Advanced Composites and Hybrid Materials for Structural and Functional Applications

(Jointly organized with MRS Japan)

Symposium Scope

Our two successful ICMAT symposia organized in 2015 and 2017 were focused mostly on nano-scale composites and hybrid materials. In this symposium, we expanded the scale to micro-composites and multi-scale hybrid systems. We plan to continue covering both structural and functional aspects of these materials, and further more we will give a strong emphasis on new concepts and state-of-the-art development related to sustainability, recyclability and green composite materials. Composite materials for emerging applications such as transport, energy, sports and defense protection.

Topics

The symposium invites contributed presentations and posters in the following areas, but not limited to,

  • Innovative fiber and matrix systems
  • Hybrid and Natural Bio-composite Systems
  • Manufacturing of composites PMCs (including thermoplastics), MMCs, CMCs
  • Novel composite manufacturing processes such as out-of autoclave approaches
  • Novel characterization methods
  • Design and Analysis of Composite Structures including Mechanical and Adhesive Bonded Joints
  • Progressive Damage Analysis of Composite Materials
  • Long term durability of composites (fatigue, creep, hydrothermal conditions)
  • Maintenance, Repair, Health Monitoring of Composite Materials (MRO)
  • Sustainability and Recycling issues
