Symposium J

Micro/nano-technology for Drug Delivery and Imaging

Owing to their size and unique properties, micro/nano technologies have provided new opportunities in biomedical engineering. Microfluidics have been fundamental toolkits for sample handling and materials syntheses at small scale. The range of applications includes diagnostics, therapeutics and regenerative medicine. Although there are many examples of microfluidics and nanomaterials being used to improve human health, common themes have emerged when discussing the challenges and opportunities of implemention in medicine. For example, one of the biggest issues is how to effectively translate promising nanomaterials from laboratory research to clinical use.

In this symposium, we will hear from leading experts in the field of microfluidics and nanomaterials and how they bridge the gap between fundamental science and translational biomedical research.
