Extreme PV: Materials & Design for Next Generation Solar PV (Photovoltaics) Systems
This symposium would focus on systems-level, materials-based innovations and manufacturing technologies that would have real world impacts in the solar PV industry both globally as well as locally in Singapore, in their current drive towards grid parity (cost equal to grid electricity) and thus towards enabling wider adoption of renewable energy sources in the world.
- Novel solar cell technologies and approaches for commercial production
- Crystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, thin films (CdTe, CIGS, etc.), heterejunctions, perovskites , strained thin films, etc.
- Silicon feedstock materials, advances in innovative design fabrication methods, cell processing, mechanics of half-cut cells and shingled cells, enhanced cell integrity to enable thinner, etc.
- Novel nanomaterials – organic, quantum dots, thin silicon foils, etc.
- Materials-based innovations in PV systems design and technologies, advanced module manufacturing and reliability improvements
- New module design, materials, technologies and reliability issues for extreme PV (desert, space)
- Novel and innovative PV materials – glass, polymer, silicon/cells, metallization/solder, etc.
- Advanced measurement/characterization methods and instrumentation
- Failure mode and defect monitoring/process control – UV degradation, polymer hydrolysis, cell cracking, solder stress, metallization corrosion, etc.
- Performance, reliability, testing, standards, etc.
